Derma Roller
HOW TO USE YOUR
Derma Roller

STEP 1: Prep
Clean and inspect your Derma Roller microneedle heads.
STEP 2: Roll
Start with a small section of your face, like your jawline, and begin to roll your Derma Roller back and forth horizontally.
Lift your Derma Roller off of the skin, and switch directions.
Repeat on all areas of the face, avoiding the delicate skin around the eyes.
STEP 3: Indulge
We suggest you use the Derma Roller in the evening to take advantage of the microchannels you are creating with each use.
These microchannels will stay open for 3 hours post-use and this window of time is PERFECT for applying a quality serum like Pure Oxygen Plasma or 20% Vitamin C.
Frequently Asked Questions
Step 1: Before you begin, be sure your skin is cleansed and your Derma Roller is properly sterilized. We recommend spraying with alcohol and then swishing the roller in a cup of water to remove the alcohol as an extra step.
While spraying your Derma Roller, be sure to inspect for any bent needles, which can damage your skin.
Step 2: Beginning with the smaller microneedle head provided, choose a small portion of your face like your jawline, begin to roll the Derma Roller back and forth horizontally several times. Next switch to up and down movements, then finish with diagonal rolls.
You want to gently roll the needles in every direction working around the face* in one-inch sections, being mindful not to drag the Derma Roller across your skin when moving location or changing direction.
*We do not recommend you use the Derma Roller on the eyelids or undereye area.
Use your Derma Roller on your forehead, eyebrows, outer corners of the eyes, nose, cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, chin, jawline and neck area with smooth, even, and gentle motions.
Step 3: Maximize your products.
We suggest you use the Derma Roller at night before bed. Since the microchannels of your skin will stay open for up to three (3) hours after use, this window of time is PERFECT for applying a serum like Vitamin C Serum or Pure Oxygen Plasma. This is what makes microneedling a powerful evening treatment.
Before every use:
Always be sure your Derma Roller is properly sterilized. We recommend spraying with alcohol and then swishing the roller in a cup of water to remove the alcohol as an extra step.
After every use:
After using your Derma Roller, simply rinse it in hot tap water shake to dry, and place back in the protective case provided.
Keeping your Derma Roller in like-new condition is very important. Every time you clean your Derma Roller (before every use) you should carefully inspect the microneedles by eye to be sure they are clean, and there are none that are bent. If you notice bent needles or that you need to apply more pressure when microneedling, it’s time for a replacement. On average, we recommend replacing your Derma Roller every 6-8 months.
The time it takes to properly microneedle your face will vary, but we’d say about 10 minutes should do the trick. Remember, you want to work around the face or area of your body (like hands or neck) in one-inch sections changing direction for each area. We suggest using your Derma Roller on your face every other week, or no more than once per week. Always let your skin be your guide. Most clients see results within 60 days.
Microneedling leaves open microchannels on your skin’s top two layers, making it a powerful step in maximizing the effectiveness of your skin care. You may also notice a pink flush to your skin after Derma Rolling, this is normal, but it can come with added sensitivities to sunlight and wind for a short period of time. For these reasons, we highly recommend you use it before bed, between cleansing and your serum of choice.
Just your regular face cleansing routine. You should always use your Derma Roller on a freshly-cleansed face.
We recommend a high-quality serum, like our Pure Oxygen Plasma or 20% Vitamin C for best results after using your Derma Roller. Microneedling leaves open microchannels on your skin’s top two layers, making it a powerful step in maximizing the effectiveness of your skin care.
Always let your skin be your guide. Also keep in mind that this is a sharp tool and should be used by those old enough to follow instructions for use properly. Microneedling is wonderful for helping erase signs of aging, scarring, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation.
It depends on your skin’s sensitivity, but usually no more than an hour.
Yes, but in the right kind of ways. Microneedling is so impactful because it is causing a very mild trauma to your skin, which stimulates cellular regrowth and collagen-boosting effects, naturally. It is this trauma that causes our skin to send vital nutrients and repairatives to our skin and rejuvenates the skin.
Microneedling is fantastic for most skin conditions. We are firm advocates for listening to your skin, and allowing it to be your guide. We also recommend a patch test anytime you are using a new skin care product or device. There have been studies to confirm that dermarolling can actually help topical medications penetrate more efficiently. Doctors have also pointed out that you shouldn’t use the Derma Roller if you have a skin condition like acne or certain types of rosacea. If your acne is current don’t use the Derma Roller, which could spread infection, but if you are trying to reduce acne scars the roller can be very effective. Read more.
