The purpose of your skin is to serve as a protective barrier, but it’s also a porous, permeable organ which absorbs everything you expose it to in seconds. With synthetic chemicals being added to nearly everything from food, to clothes, to cosmetics — being cautious with what you consume and what goes on your precious skin is now more critical than ever!
Every choice you make today will impact your skin tomorrow. While your skin is resilient, caring for it properly will pay off in the long run. Not just with the appearance of your skin, but with your overall health.
This is why we love a good D.I.Y. skin care recipe!

This is also why we’ve tried, tested, and perfected a few of our all-time favorite recipes you can do (with ingredients probably already in your kitchen cabinet). We’re about to share them with you so get ready to jot these down, or bookmark this page for easy access when your skin needs a boost.
D.I.Y. Lip Balm
Lip balm is one of those things most women have in their purses on any given day. We’d even be willing to say that most women have multiple of these little things laying around, whether their bags, cars, bathrooms, jacket pockets, backpacks, and so on…BUT do you know what’s in your lip balm?
Maybe you’ve never thought of it before, but what you put on your lips ends up in your body — making it vital for your lip balm to be organic, natural, and chemical-free!
So, how to know what exactly is in your lip balm? Make it yourself!

Dark Spot-Eliminating Face Mask
There’s a one-ingredient face mask capable of eliminating dark spots, scarring, and fine lines! You guessed it — that one ingredient is EGG MEMBRANE!This has been a Face Yogi staple and favorite, for it’s quick, easy, effective, and you can do it as you prepare your morning omelet.

The egg membrane is the thin, white layer found on the inside of the shell. Here’s how you use it for your face:
- Gently peel the membrane off the shell and apply directly to the skin, especially on areas of concern.
- Leave it on for 15-20 minutes or before the membrane dries out completely
- Rinse with cool water
- For a vegan option, use ground flax seeds mixed with water and apply to the skin!
D.I.Y. Hydrating Spray Moisturizer
One of the most important things you can do for your skin is to hydrate it, internally and externally. Next to consuming enough water throughout the day, you also want to properly moisturize your skin. A great way to give your skin a quick pick-me-up is to moisturize it throughout the day. And we don’t just mean cream moisturizers, we’re referring to spray moisturizers! A lightweight spray moisturizer can be applied anytime of day for a quick boost and refreshing glow.
To make your own all you need is:
- Distilled water
- Vegetable glycerin
- Optional essential oil(s) of your choice
- Mix them in a glass spray bottle
- Spray on your face before applying moisturizer, while traveling, or throughout the day!
